In data processing, there may need to code the data for easy data processing. Like in examination, it is more convienent to have symbol number for examinees than the real name. The using of symbol number is an example for coding and symbol number is again variefied with examinees name is an example of decoding.
- Coding: It is the process of providing code instead of long name.
- Example: Giving code number to the exam copy, students, etc.
- Decoding: It is the process of extracting the data from the coded file. Retrieving the actual information from the code numbers is decoding.
- Example: Getting the examinee information from exam copy code.
